Classes

Our training is empowering and interactive. We equip officers with the tools needed for success and the confidence to use them. Curriculum and course content change based on the most recent legal decisions and published research. We offer two courses for law enforcement personnel:

Evidence Based Interview & Interrogation Course (24 hours)

The CTK Group’s Evidenced Based Interview and Interrogation course is a comprehensive training designed to equip today’s law enforcement officer in eliciting information from victims, witnesses, and suspects. Our goal is to master research-based skills for interview and interrogation, while taking every legal advantage allowed by the courts. This course clearly navigates the legal landscape of interrogation beyond any training officers have previously received, creates critical advantages by developing cognitive interviewing skills, and develops the art of persuasion skills within interrogation. Our unique baseball diamond schema provides an actionable game plan to use for every interview and interrogation. This course incorporates a video-based pre/post-test, active role-playing and practice, and actual criminal interrogation videos to supplement the 218-page manual that each attendee receives. Make no mistake…this is no course for recruits. Twenty-year veterans have taken this course and have been amazed at the information they learned in the three days.

Advanced Interview & Interrogation Course (24 hours)

The CTK Group’s Advanced Interview and Interrogation course is specifically designed for exceptional law enforcement officers whose primary focus areas are felony-level cases. The instruction reinforces the baseball diamond concept introduced in the Fundamentals course and applies the principles learned to homicides, sex abuses, narcotics, and other major crimes. This course examines the most recent research on interview and interrogation including the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG), conversation management, the PEACE Method, and traditional interrogation training in the United States as it relates to cognitive interviewing for suspects, strategic use of evidence, and persuasion. The ever-challenging issues of jail and prison interrogations, false confessions, juvenile interactions, and Miranda invocation issues are addressed and explained in detail. Interrogation case studies in homicide and abuse cases are also included in the curriculum.

*It is not required to attend the Evidence-Based Interview and Interrogation Course first, but it is helpful.  Officers who attend the Advanced Interview and Interrogation Course first often return to the Evidence-Based Interview and Interrogation Course.
